CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, which might also be known as farm shares. Members make their commitment to our farm by signing up & paying before the season starts. Members pick up vegetables and any add-on shares on a weekly basis.
-
Our CSA program is unique because we set up our pick ups “market-style” allowing customers the freedom to choose exactly what they want each week. We do not pre-box shares or choose items for you. We simply provide you with a weekly list of estimated availability to help you plan ahead. It is important to remember that we are a small business working with nature and are not as on-demand as a grocery store might be. There may be some differences between the anticipated and actual lists.
-
We use a two group, value based system, where the number of choices you are allotted will depend upon the size share you purchase and at what point in the season we are. The season is typically split into three time periods; early season, mid season, and late season - with a different # of choices from each group. We keep track of the average weekly value of each share size based on the cost and quantities of available items. Every year, we are able to offer a strong return on your investment - you get more than what you pay for!
In the summer season we start off a little slower, so you will likely have the least amount of choices at this point, but as we get to the peak of the season you will be allowed more choices. Our winter season starts at the peak of harvest, so you start off with lots of choices and they will decrease as the winter goes on.
-
When you arrive at your pick up location, check in with your CSA staff for attendance and any relevant updates. They will direct you to the weekly share list chalkboard, where the weekly variety and available amounts are written out. You will have also received the weekly list via email (double check your spam and promotions folders).
We lay all of the available veggies out with a few scales and you get to pick and weigh your own! Add on shares will be there too - dairy, eggs, and meat can be found in coolers, whereas the mushrooms will just be out on the tables with the rest of the vegetables. Meat orders need to be weighed and priced, so let the CSA staff know you placed an order.
-
Another aspect of our program that makes us unique is that we allow shares to be made up within the same season they were missed. If you cannot or do not want to make up missed weeks, you can invite a friend or neighbor to pick up in your place (a great way to share the love and show someone new our CSA), or ask us to donate your week’s allotment.
-
We cannot guarantee the availability of specific crops at specific times in specific quantities. Our crop availability is subject to weather, harvest timing, labor availability and quality of crops.
-
We understand that life circumstances may change, so if at any time prior to or during the season you need to cancel your subscription, we will refund you the remaining value of your subscription with no questions asked, minus a $20 processing fee. Refunds will be made back to your original method of payment.
-
You are welcome to split a subscription with someone, however, the subscription is the responsibility of the primary member who signed up and will be listed under their name at check-in. We do not manage the splitting of share contents or payments, and the primary member listed on the account is ultimately responsible for any balance due.
You are welcome to give us the names of any secondary members and we will add them to your Local Food Marketplace account and the weekly CSA newsletter email list.
-
Email is our primary form of communication. It is helpful to have your phone number in case we have questions regarding your membership or payment. It is your responsibility to keep this information up to date on your Local Food Marketplace (LFM) account or to notify us of any changes or additional contacts.
